I can’t say I am a bibliophile but I am sure I am an active reader, I spend most of my time reading books or drooling over the new releases that I wish to read. Long story short, this quarantine I found some amazing books to read, and can’t wait to share what I learnt reading them.

I always took reading as an escapade from reality. Travelling with the characters and witnessing them take up the challenges of their life helped me build confidence and determination that I can achieve my goals and aspirations.

So in a brief I am going to talk about the two wonderful books that I read in the last month and how amazingly they teleported me (or in a more potterhead kind of way Apparated me) into an era that I dearly heard in tales that were my bedtime stories or lessons from Mythology that I studied for my board exams.

These two are from the same genre Mythological Fiction. And I can’t put in words the amazing work the authors did. I was really hooked and could see the age old kingdoms of Mithila, Ayodhya and Hastinapura, Indraprastha take shape in my mind.

Yes, we are talking about the Mahabharata and the Ramayana here. The both books I was admiring are both a new rendering of the age old epics.

The latest books I read were “The Palace of Illusions” by Chitra banerjee Divakaruni and “Sita - The warrior of Mithila” by Amish Tripathi.

It was such an overwhelming experience to have read these wonderful books. I teared up at some parts and couldn’t resume reading as a whole tide of grief overtook my senses.

So in a short series of blogs, I am going to tell you how the books helped me and shed light onto a new perspective of life and how they impacted me in a humongous way.

I also started to articulate all my lessons in these tiny bundles of wisdom (the way I call my short notes with key takeaways from the book I read) that I am also gonna include in the blogs.

Book courtesy by the ELTC library of our college. Yes we are really blessed with this cozy little library that I am very fond of. It houses many wonderful titles and has quite a good collection of all kinds of genres. And the librarian being your favourite professor makes it even more fun to visit ;)
